363 Activation Prayer (2015 12 05)

I wrote and gave the following prayer at the activation ceremony for the 363rd Engineer Battalion in Knightdale, NC. This was a brand new unit and I was the first chaplain in the unit's history. Various civic and military dignitaries attended the ceremony in the drill hall.


Let's pray.

Our Father, What a beautiful day you have given us to celebrate this joyous occasion. As we have come together today to mark this new beginning for our unit, we are thankful that we serve a God of new beginnings. Just as you brought order out of darkness and chaos, we pray and trust that You will do the same for our unit from this day forward.

In Your sovereignty and providence, you have assembled this group together for this season. Take our individual life experiences, abilities, and giftings and mold us together, as only You can do, to form us into a single unit that ably fulfills its purpose.

Our leadership will, no doubt, encounter difficult seasons and tough decisions that they must make. You promise us in Your Word that if we lack wisdom, we should seek You and You promise to give it freely and without reproach. Help us, Lord, to seek You for wisdom in those times when we must make those decisions.

We thank you, again, Father, for this joyous occasion. Our future is in Your hands, and that is truly a good place to be. Lead us and guide us, we pray, and help us to follow You.

In Your name we ask all these things, AMEN.
